The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) mourned the acting Speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, Ahmed Bahr, who was martyred yesterday, Friday, as a result of his wounds in an Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip a few days ago.
The movement said in a statement published on Telegram, “Bahr (Abu Akram) was martyred after he saw the scenes of pride, victory, and pride in the Zionist enemy army, which were recorded by the men of the Qassam Brigades in the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood.”
Hamas explained that the crime of bombing and destroying the Legislative Council building in the Gaza Strip requires urgent and effective action to condemn and criminalize it and put pressure to stop the occupation’s aggression.
Ahmed Bahr was born in the Gaza Strip in 1949. He was a member of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, and held the position of first vice president of the Palestinian Legislative Council. After the occupation arrested the head of the council, Aziz Dweik, in the occupied West Bank, Bahr became acting president of the council.
On November 13, Israeli soldiers from the Golani unit published a picture of themselves from inside the headquarters of the Legislative Council (Parliament) in Gaza, lining up on the council’s platform and raising the Israeli flag after removing the Palestinian flag.
Israeli officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, reposted the photo, and the building was blown up two days later, according to a video posted by Israeli soldiers.
The occupation army did not explain the reasons for bombing the building, which is one of the symbols of Palestinian sovereignty.
For the 43rd day, Israel’s aggression against Gaza continues, leaving more than 12,000 martyrs, tens of thousands injured, and massive destruction in residential neighborhoods, vital facilities, hospitals, and mosques.
