A video circulated on social media of Israeli soldiers performing Talmudic prayers on the occasion of what they call Hanukkah on loudspeakers in a Jenin mosque following the storming of the camp.

This passage refutes Israel’s claim that it seeks to preserve and protect the holy places of all monotheistic religions. Last year, the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Arabic Israel account tweeted:

“Terrorism affects the sanctity of the dead prophets, not only innocent civilians in Israel, and the irony is that Israel strives to preserve the holy places of all monotheistic religions and provide freedom of worship, especially in the holy month of Ramadan at Al-Aqsa Mosque, while the hand of terrorism affects the sanctity of the tomb of the Prophet Joseph, peace be upon him.”

Israel’s extremist National Defense Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, posted the video on his Facebook page, and the clip began to spread among the audience of social media platforms in the world, and provoked a state of anger and condemnation. Tweeters considered the movement provocative, and said that the occupation soldiers know that “the Palestinian resistance will not fight them inside the houses of God because of the sanctity of fighting in them and for fear of destroying them.”

Jews all over the world celebrate Hanukkah to commemorate the so-called “victory of the sons of the Hasmoneans” in their revolt against the Greeks during the Second Temple period, according to the claim of Jews who claimed that the Greeks persecuted rights and forbade Jewish worship, and their “revolution” resulted in the occupation of Jerusalem and the replacement of Greek rule with a Jew.
